Autoflower cannabis seeds FAQ
How are autoflower seeds produced?
In similar way to traditional cannabis seeds. However, the parent strains have been specially bred and selected to contain autoflowering genetics. All Dutch Passion autoflower seeds are feminized, meaning that the seeds give rise to female autoflowering offspring.
What is the difference between feminized photoperiod seeds and autoflower seeds?
Feminized photoperiod plants must be forced into bloom by reducing the amount of daily light. For indoor growers this means implementing a 12/12 light cycle. Autoflower seeds start to flower automatically after around 4-5 weeks, regardless of the light cycle. This means you can grow from autoflower seed to harvest with 20 hours of daily light. With such rapid levels of photosynthesis your auto is ready to harvest around 11 weeks after germination.
You can have a range of different-age autoflower plants, from seedling to mature females, all in the same tent under the same light cycle allowing perpetual harvests. Convenience, speed, XL yields and high-quality harvests have made autoflower seeds a popular and permanent choice with indoor and outdoor growers.
How to germinate cannabis autoflower seeds?
In the same way as feminized seeds or regular seeds. The damp cotton pad cannabis seed germination method is especially reliable. Germinating your seeds directly in the grow medium, in the final grow container is the other popular choice. Autoflower seeds germinate in the same amount of time as normal cannabis seeds.
Can you grow autoflowers under permanent 24-hour light?
Yes. But it’s a minority that tend to do so. Many feel that a short period of darkness (4-6 hours) is of benefit to plant biochemistry.
How long does it take autoflower seeds to germinate?
Autoflower seeds take the same amount of time to germinate as other types of cannabis seeds. They look the same too and are impossible to distinguish from regular or feminized seeds. Autoflower seeds usually germinate inside 2-3 days using the damp cotton pad method, or when germinated in the grow medium.
How fast do autoflower seeds grow?
The stretchiest / tallest autoflower seed varieties can reach around 5 feet during their 11-week grow cycle. Occasionally even taller. But most of the time autos grow to around 3-4ft. Shorter, indica-leaning autos may reach 1-2ft in height but yield heavily with a stocky main bloom and numerous side blooms.
